We offer these as alternatives to Chess, Draughts and other board games which involve the use of dice and playing pieces which can be lost or misused. Most of the games given here can be written in blank areas of copybooks and can be put away in a matter of seconds. Also, it is possible to hold competitions in these games (e.g. a 'Noughts and Crosses' competition, a 'Battleship' competition etc.) because, as well as being engaging, they often afford an opportunity for weaker children to win the competition. We have developed special versions of some games for children with special needs (e.g. A 'Join-the-Dots' board version using match-stickes to join the dots) which don't require the child to write. We have then available for free in PDF format.
